I hope you are settling into this year nicely, and that it’s treating you well. Did you decide to make some 2019 resolutions? I, obviously, did.
I’ve always liked using the start of a new year to take a moment a check in with myself and my projects. While I do try to take a few moments each season to do this as well, the yearly check in is a bit more comprehensive.
I have this project to look at and plan for this year. The goal in 2018 was to start this blog, and that’s complete, but there wasn’t much more context to it than that.
This year, I would like to better clarify what my goals are for this blog. In a grandiose sense, I would like to help people come up with ways to shift their behaviors to more sustainable and ethical practices. While that’s a decent mission statement, it needs clearly defined, actionable steps to be achieved.
I want to get into a good posting rhythm of 2-3 posts a week. Either on Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Tuesday and Thursday. The goal is posting between 8 and 12 times a month.
I want to have a decent diversity of posts. I’d like to have the “Regularly Scheduled GOAT” post once or twice a month. Then have around 4 list posts, maybe 4 “how-to” type posts, and have the rest be more long form articles.
I’d like to begin using social media to get more traffic to this blog.
In June, or so, I want to get constructive feedback from you on what you’d like to get from this blog. I’m hoping to have some more grounding in this by then, as well as more stable traffic.
I’d like to get an email list set up between March and June.
On a more personal note, but still connected, I want to continue learning how to juggle grad school, work, my personal life, and this blog in a way which feels like I’m being successful at each of them. Much of this will come from figuring out how I’m going to define “successful” for these areas. Specifically with Goat and Lilac, successful is getting into a good posting rhythm and starting to get traffic.
Why did I post this?
To be transparent about my plans.
I’m not sure where this blog is going to go yet. It’s still at the start of its journey.
I’m also hoping that this keeps me accountable. It’s a public document that states what my current intention is, which should help keep me on track with this project.
What do you think of these 2019 resolutions? Do you have any to add? What are yours?
